7. There's a story behind everyone

Maleficent gave her heart to the person she believed in most, Stefan. Sadly, he didn't take such a sacred gift with him, but instead betrayed her by cutting her wings off.

After being blinded by hatred and revenge ―the once fairy― became a witch who lived in the shadows. People from every corner of the world witnessed the circumstances that led Maleficent to become a wicked woman.

6. Innocence is a precious gift

Aurora stole what was left of Maleficent's heart through innocence and love. Everyone is born innocent, but not everyone is able to cherish such a valuable gift.

Aside from the casted evil spell, Maleficent proved that deep down ―her heart still remained pure.

5. Love comes naturally

In Maleficent's eyes, love was not possible and therefore she believed that her actions towards Aurora were out of instinct. In life, there will be times in which people who you never imagined cared, are the ones to give you a hand.

The "former" villain proved that she was Aurora's true love after everything that she did. The film showed that in most cases, pure and authentic love may be found within family or friends, not necessarily in a significant other. 

Also, how hatred and revenge can only affect the person who is feeling such an atrocious emotion. At the end, Aurora's innocent and kind heart was capable of conquering and winning the love of the person who had once cursed her.
