Las 100 mejores películas de comedia de la historia

Hubo un tiempo, lejano ya, en en el que las comedias parecían ser las representantes más sofisticadas y destacadas de lo que recientemente se había denominado séptimo arte.

Los clásicos del cine mudo de Charlie Chaplin y Buster Keaton, pura comedia visual y de gags físicos, películas pioneras y admirables que podían ser hilarantes pero ocasionalmente también de una sorprendente profundidad dramática (Chaplin comiendo un zapato en The Gold Rush) y suelen ser las más asociadas a aquella era temprana del cine.

Por alguna razón, con la evolución del lenguaje cinematográfico y del cine como industria y expresión artística, la comedia quedó relegada a un lugar menor, como si fuera un género menos digno, menos importante o más banal. Tanto es así que la BBC, que había realizado una encuesta con críticos de todo el mundo hace un par de años para determinar las mejores películas de la historia, ahora tuvo que hacer una nueva encuesta restringida solamente a comedias: es que entre las mejores películas (a secas) de la historia, casi nadie optó por el humor.

BBC consultó a 253 críticos de 52 países diferentes, preguntándoles cuáles eran sus 10 películas de comedia favoritas, y luego realizó un promedio de votos entre las más elegidas.

El resultado es el de las 100 mejores películas de comedia de la historia.
