Erykavelle Lugo is one of 200,000 Puerto Ricans who have moved to central Florida since 2012 due to the economic crisis on the island. As a Puerto Rican, she didn’t have the right to vote for president on the island, but now in Florida she can. “I used to watch it on TV and wasn’t so involved,” she says. Today, she works for Hispanic Federation, motivating her community to vote early. In a crucial swing state, Puerto Ricans are some of the most desired voters.
