Salmonella outbreak in the U.S is affecting young lives

There is a salmonella outbreak due to infected cucumbers in the United States that is affecting and killing people. According to a report released by CNN --in California, Arizona and Texas three people have died due to this infection.

A very serious outbreak

The amount of infections that are linked to cucumbers continues to rise as there are about 558 reported cases. More than half of the people infected are younger than 18 years of age.

The number of salmonella infections linked to cucumbers continues to soar with a U.S. health agency reporting 558 cases on Tuesday, a figure that's 140 more than just a week prior. The additional 140 cases come from 24 states, from a high of 31 in California and one each in Missouri, Montana, South Dakota, North Dakota and New York.

Know the facts 

The state which holds the most cases is California. The following states are Arizona, Utah, Minnesota and Wisconsin. Therefore, be extra careful when purchasing fresh produce, especially if you have little ones at home.

Authorities are working extremely hard to eradicate all traces of an infection that could potentially kill more people. As a safety guard, always wash vegetables before cooking or serving them.
