El capítulo final de la primera temporada de True Detective dividió a la audiencia y no logró generar el consenso que sí se había observado en los primeros 5 o 6 episodios de la serie, en los que se presentaron y profundizaron los conflictos y misterios, y quedamos atrapados por el intrincado guión de Nic Pizzolatto, la audaz dirección de Cary Fukunaga y la brillante actuación de Matthew McConaughey y Woody Harrelson.

Pero independientemente de que el cierre de la historia no haya resultado satisfactorio para todos (aunque sí para muchos), los logros de la serie en cuanto a su producción y realización son indiscutibles, y uno de los elementos que más sorprendió y cautivó a la audiencia fue la utilización de la banda sonora y de canciones que parecen acompañar de manera perfecta las imágenes y los hechos de True Detective.
