Batman Vs. Superman: A Mom's Review

Maybe I'm a bit late to the party, but here's my 2 cents

Am I bit late to the party? Forgive me, but attending a Superhero film on opening night was never in the cards.

Am I bit late to the party? Forgive me, but attending a Superhero film on opening night was never in the cards. Like any civilized mom in yoga pants and a messy bun, I waited until the hype died down and went to see the movie on my terms. In other words, I waited until I could secure a babysitter and went on cheap night to make it relatively affordable. Seriously, the price was far more disappointing than the film.

PUBLICIDAD

Sure, I read the reviews, or rather the headlines of reviews because who has time for reading these days? I read things like: "Even Ben Affleck Knows Batman vs. Superman is Terrible" and "Will Batman vs. Superman be the demise of the entire DC movie series to come?" Suffice to say, I entered that theatre with a healthy dose of skepticism along with the exciting realization that the only thing I had to manage for the next two hours was my popcorn intake.

Here's what I know. You critics have some seriously high standards. This was one very entertaining movie. Perhaps, the fact that I do not follow superheroes in my daily life, or read comic books ever, or more importantly would never come to the conclusion that the idea of Gotham city across the river from Metropolis is preposterous. In fact, as I sat and took in a movie about a couple of superheroes and a villain or two, I thoroughly enjoyed my time.

To be fair, I am not completely out of the loop when it comes to superheroes. When Christian Bale was cast as Batman a few films ago, I immediately decided I would become a fan. Not the kind of fan that researched the backstory and wrote letters regarding the films continuity failures, but a fan who would take in these films for what they were: entertainment.

So, relax critics. Not all of us will be offended by the director's liberal storyline. Not all of us will be bothered by his departure from the sacred rules of the DC Universe. Some of us are too busy relishing in the fact that we have two whole hours to sit still while we watch a movie, in the first place.
