James Martin is an American Jesuit priest, author of "Building a Bridge: How the Catholic Church and the LGBT Community Can Enter into a Relationship of Respect, Compassion, and Sensitivity," and whom Pope Francis appointed in 2017 as Consulters of the Secretariat for Communication.
Martin is also the editor of the Catholic magazine America and the Outreach, a site for the LGBT community. Father Martin's activism began after the massacre at the Pulse Club in Orlando, Florida in June 2016.
