Michael Kirk Douglas nació el día 25 de septiembre de 1944 en New Brunswick, New Jersey, Norteamérica. Es un reconocido actor y productor con una vasta filmografía, y ganador de dos Premios Oscar.

Es hijo del afamado actor Kirk Douglas, gran protagonista de la película " Espartaco", y de la actriz Diana Dill.
Estudió interpretación en la Universidad californiana de Santa Barbara, en donde hizo sus primeros contactos con Danny DeVito. A fines de los 60 debutó en el cine, en la película “ La Sombra De Un Gigante” (1966), protagonizada por su padre, y en producciones teatrales off Broadway.
