Además de grupos de supremacistas blancos, miembros del Ku Klux Klan y neonazis, al menos dos organizaciones armadas acudieron a las protestas de Charlottesville. ¿El motivo? Proteger a los manifestantes que protestaban por la retirada de monumentos confederados y a su derecho constitucional a la libertad de expresión.
Varios grupos armados patrullaron la protesta supremacista en Charlottesville con el objetivo de "proteger el derecho de los manifestantes a la libertad de expresión".
