A new Kingdom
In the early stages of the 18th century a house was built in the location where the Palace now stands. However, all that remains from this structure is simply the name of its owner. ‘Lord All Pride’ as many people knew him due to his sense of arrogance, was married to a very wealthy woman. With the use of her money, he built the house which was later sold around the 1760s.
But this is when the magic began for contemporary British Monarchs. George III, bought this magnificent home for his wife Queen Charlotte of Mecklenburg. In one purchase, a home for aristocrats became the opulent and lavish Palace for the British throne.
