What makes Kylie Jenner a brave young woman

Kylie Jenner’s lip plump has taken the pop-culture world by storm. On social media, so many people criticize the fact that she’s only 17 and how getting lip fillers this young isn’t a good thing to do after all. After Jenner admitted that she did have fillers and how thin lips were a huge insecurity that she’s dealt with for years, more people began to bully her with rude comments on social media.

Where is the line drawn between bullying and criticism

All my life, I’ve dealt with having thin lips and this is exactly why I understand where Kylie stands. While I was in high school, I had girls make fun of me because of how my lips looked. Can’t deny the fact that it became an insecurity and at times -- I’ve contemplated the idea of plumping them up.

When I finally graduated high school, there was such a relief and finally, I began to mature and realized that the people who love me accept me just as I am. Also, I came to the conclusion that if I ever wanted to modify and/ or permanently alter my body in any way, it had to be because of a personal decision and not because I was influenced nor bullied to do it.

However, why is a 17 year old who confessed to the world that she wanted to change an insecurity causing such a stir?

It has a lot to do with the fact that Kylie is in the public eye and most of what she does makes headlines. Aside from so many comments of people who think it’s wrong that she’s had work done at 17, I believe Kylie is a courageous young woman.

Being someone who has felt insecure about my lips because of other women bullying me – I think so many people could identify themselves with Kylie’s story -- the reasons that lead her to temporary fillers.

As a woman, realize that your body is a temple and that if you ever decide to alter your body in any way it should be because of a self-made decision and not because other people are bullying or pressuring you to do it.
