WILL FLEETWOOD MAC RECORD AND TOUR WITHOUT STEVIE NICKS?

Would Fleetwood Mac dare tour without Stevie Nicks?
27 Sep 2016 – 11:02 AM EDT

Would Fleetwood Mac dare tour without Stevie Nicks??? According to Christine McVie -- maybe. McVie chatted with Rolling Stone and aside from discussing the newly released deluxe edition of 1982's Mirage album, she shed light on the group's half-finished new studio set. McVie revealed, "Well, we cut seven songs in the studio already for the start of a brand-new studio album. Which we did probably nearer two years ago. We shelved that temporarily and then went on the road and did the tour. And now, actually, I think we're going back in in October to try to finish it off."

As was the case with 1987's Tango In The Night -- the last studio album featuring the band's classic '70s lineup -- Stevie Nicks is late to join the party. McVie explained, "Stevie hasn't participated yet, but hope springs eternal. She's going on a solo tour at the moment. But Lindsey (Buckingham) and I, we have plenty of songs. There are tons more in the bag that we have yet to record. And they're fantastic. So we're going to carry on and try to finish the record. And then maybe if Stevie doesn't want to be part of that then we can go out and just do some smaller concerts."

  • When pressed as to whether she, Buckingham, ex-husband John McVie and Mick Fleetwood consider playing select shows without Nicks to publicize the still-unfinished album, McVie said, "As a four-piece, yeah. With a view of doing a huge world tour after that, with Stevie."
  • She went on to say that the band is planning to have the album finished and released by 2017: "That's the plan. And I can't wait for it to be finished. It'll be great. And then we'll hopefully do this world tour with Stevie. And after that, who knows? But we're all still alive, how about that? So that's a start."
  • Christine McVie says that as the years roll by, she’s instinctively become the greatest editor of her material: "I’ve never been a really prolific songwriter. I don’t write millions and millions of songs. I write when I know there’s a project coming up or when I. . . It’s not something that I must do all the time, every day, every day. . . So, when I do come up with a song -- when I do write a song -- for me, it has to be special; y’know, otherwise I’ll throw it out before it gets anywhere near being finished. If I don’t like the chords and I don’t like the way it’s going, then I’ll drop it." :
