According to a report by The Irish Sun, U2 will release its new album titled Songs From Experience on December 1st -- World Aids Day -- with the first single, "You’re The Best Thing About Me" hitting radio on September 8th. According to U2 insider, Irish rock journalist Dave Fanning: "New U2 stuff always excites me because its great hearing new stuff from a band you love. It’s definitely out this year. I had a listen to it at Bono’s house and it’s not unlike Songs Of Innocence, or The Joshua Tree. What’s great is new songs mean something to U2. They take their new material seriously, in a way that the Rolling Stones don’t."
Fanning went on to say: "The songs I heard were more personal from Bono, singing about later on after he left (his neighborhood and street) Cedarwood Road. Reflecting back on his life. I like the way Bono comes clean and wears his heart on his sleeve. This is very, very personal."
- The Edge told us that U2 has never been comfortable resting on its laurel and has always felt most natural when stepping out on a limb: "In some ways that sense of jeopardy is a good thing. I would hate if we ever lost our great ability to screw up. It's an important part of what the band is. We've never fallen afoul to the risks of becoming too professional or, indeed, over-rehearsing (laughs). Those two things we've managed to avoid up 'til now." :
