Red Hot Chili Peppers will perform prior to the historic home opener of the Los Angeles Rams' first season since their return to the City of Angels. The game against the Seattle Seahawks will take place at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum on Sunday, September 18th and will be the first NFL match in Los Angeles in 22 years. The Chili Peppers will perform 30 minutes before the 1:05 p.m. PT kickoff.
Chili Peppers bassist Flea said, "Since I was a little boy, I've taken joy in the beauty of the Rams. When I moved to Los Angeles in 1972, I was getting uprooted from my home and I thought, 'Well, where I'm going they've got the Rams. It's going to be all right.'"
- The Rams moved back to Los Angeles this season after moving to St. Louis in 1994.
- Last week the Chili Peppers released a music video for the song "Go Robot," in which singer Anthony Kiedis recreates several scenes from the iconic 1977 disco movie Saturday Night Fever dressed as a mime in little more than white paint.
- "Go Robot" is the second video issued from the band's latest album, The Getaway, following in the footsteps of the chart-topping "Dark Necessities."
- The Getaway is the Chili Peppers' 11th studio album and debuted at Number One around the world. The band will tour North America in support of the disc in early 2017.
