Phil Collins is taking some pretty drastic measures in order to get in shape for his spring tour dates. The Daily Mail reported Collins "is undergoing controversial electroshock therapy in a bid to overcome problems with his spine, neck and arm. The painful treatment sends waves of electrical current through the body." In addition to the procedures, Collins is ramping up for his upcoming Not Dead Yet comeback tour by spending two hours a day in the gym. Collins, who just published his memoir Not Dead Yet: The Memoir, explained, "I had back surgery, and that went well, but it left my right foot numb which is nerve damage. And that has got to regenerate, because the nerves between the foot and your back -- that is a long distance. I am not that tall, but it is a long enough distance for about a millimeter a week (to have to regenerate), so I have just got to get back and get at it. I am doing water therapy now and will be back doing physiotherapy again, and will nudge it along a bit with electroshock things."

- Back in 2004, when the problems began in earnest for him, Phil Collins gave us an update on nerve damage recovery on his hand -- which was a by-product of the vertebrae damage: "I won't know for a year, 'cause it takes year -- a millimeter a day, and the problem is on my elbow, down to my wrist and palm. Actually I can't play drums -- although I play drums on the Motown record, but I had to tape the sticks to my hand -- gaffer tape the sticks, 'cause I didn't have any strength to hold the sticks and my wrist." :
