Happy Birthday to Mick Jagger, who turns 74 today (July 26th). Jagger will always be best known as being's rock's preeminent frontman and co-songwriter with partner Keith Richards of the Rolling Stones' greatest works. Back in December, Jagger became a father for the eighth time when his 29-year-old girlfriend, ballerina Melanie Hamrick, gave birth to his fourth son, Deveraux.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MICK JAGGER!!!
Rolling Stones Frontman Turns 74 Today

Jagger was recently photographed in the studio with British rapper and producer Skepta. Skepta posted a photo of the pair listening to a playback with the caption: "Skepta and Mick Jagger, London 2017. (One of the most inspiring days of my life.)" The Rolling Stones, who launch their upcoming European tour in September, have been in and out of the studio over the past 18 months -- but so far, there's been no word when a new album from the band might be forthcoming.
Plans are slowly coming together for a prospective Rolling Stones jukebox musical for Broadway, according to The Toronto Sun. A source close to the project shed light on the progress of the musical: "The workshops are being kept very much under wraps and only incredible talent is being invited to attend. The idea came from top theater execs who know the concept of a Stones musical has the potential to be a worldwide hit. But they know the show has to be outstanding for the band members to back it. Only then will it ever see the light of day -- and at the same time make the rockers as absolute fortune." No title or any word regarding the story line has been announced.
Last December, the Rolling Stones released their first blues covers collection, titled, Blue & Lonesome. Although it topped the charts in no less than 10 countries, including Britain -- Blue & Lonesome -- the Stones' first studio set in over a decade, fell short Stateside, peaking at Number Four. In addition to England, the album went all the way to Number One on the Australian, Belgian, Dutch, German, Norwegian, Scottish, Swedish, and Swiss album charts.
Bad news came to Jagger in March 2014 with the suicide of his longtime girlfriend, 44-year-old L'Wren Scott. He rallied for a string of massively successful international Stones dates, as well as serving as the co-creator and executive producer of HBO's ill-fated '70s music drama, Vinyl, which also featured his son, 31-year-old James Jagger.
Mick Jagger, who over the years has also dabbled with acting and producing, told us that for a project to truly be successful, it needs to connect with its entire prospective audience: "When you put out a piece of work, you want to have, first, you want to feel 'I like it' and the rest of the musicians, band, whatever, have to like it -- everyone has to like it. And then your friendshave to like it, and then you want the public to like it, and you want the critics to like it, so it can work on many levels. So you can be very happy with an album, but nobody else (laughs) likes it -- that's not a success. But it's a big success if you get all of those groups liking it."
