BOB DYLAN AND SONY MUSIC GLOBAL TWITTER ACCOUNTS HACKED

The Twitter accounts for Sony Music Global and Bob Dylan were both hacked.

On Monday morning, December 26th, the Twitter accounts for Sony Music Global and Bob Dylan were both hacked. At around the same time, both accounts sent out tweets that were part of a Britney Spears death hoax. The tweets from Sony Music Global read, "RIP @britneyspears," with a crying emoji. and "#RIPBritney 1981-2016." Some time later another tweet went out that read, "britney spears is dead by accident! We will tell you more soon. #RIP Britney."

  • Dylan's account during the same time frame sent out a tweet that read, "Rest in peace @britneyspears," with the same crying emoji. About 45 minutes later another tweet went out from Dylan's account that read, "OurMine checked Britney Spears twitter account if it’s hacked or not and they detected that it’s hacked! @britneyspears is still alive!!"
  • Yahoo News reports that the OurMine group has taken responsibility for the hacks.
  • Sony Music Global released a statement that read, "Sony Music Entertainment’s Twitter account was compromised . . . This has been rectified. Sony Music apologizes to Britney Spears and her fans for any confusion."
  • In the past week, OurMine has hacked the Twitter accounts of Netflix and Marvel.
