In The Now marks Gibb's first album as an artist since the final Bee Gees album, 2001's This Is Where I Came In. Robin Gibb died of kidney failure at the age of 62 on May 20th, 2012 after battling colon and liver cancer. Robin's fraternal twin, Maurice Gibb, died at the age of 53 on January 12th, 2003 after undergoing emergency abdominal surgery in Florida. Youngest brother Andy died in 1988 at age 30 due to an inflammatory heart virus exacerbated by years of substance abuse. The Gibb's mother, Barbara, died inn August at age 95.

  • Barry Gibb, who's now reluctantly going it alone, says the strength of the Bee Gees is that they forged ahead as complete equals: "Robin was musically a genius and Maurice was, too. And they were both geniuses in different ways, y'know? That's why it worked. Because all three of us; we were actually. . we were all the same -- and yet, we were all different. I would act like the leader and I would feel like I was the leader, but you couldn't say that. And I think Robin felt that was about himself too."
