1./ RESISTANCE: The rebellion of the Sandinista's grandchildren

Students are in the front lines of the resistance in Nicaragua. They were the ones who first mobilized to defend the retirees when the government proposed reforming the pension system and those who took the brunt of the repression. Many of the more than 50 deaths in the protests are young people who stood behind barricades built with cobblestones from the streets and, with homemade mortars, sticks and stones sought to defend themselves from attacks by riot police and Sandinista mobs . Some were entrenched in the Polytechnic University of Managua and from there began to organize, calling for the departure of Daniel Ortega and Rosario Murillo.
