On Saturday, March 31st, thousands of fans gathered in front of the big stage at the Hemisfair to see Luis Fonsi perform. Even the intense heat could not stop people from seeing the "Despacito" singer perform live at the free concert.

Before taking the stage, the Latin singer had one request. He wanted to meet with San Antonio's mayor Ron Nirenberg who was also attending the event.

Minutes later, Fonsi met with Nirenberg, his wife Erika Prosper and Michael Quintanilla who had been the people responsible for coordinating the city official's viral "Grid Iron Dance" music video several months earlier.

After taking the stage, Fonsi expressed his love for San Antonio. Quintanilla stated: "He loves San Antonio and wants to come back."

Nirenberg told the Express News: "Luis Fonsi loves San Antonio and San Antonio loves Luis Fonsi. His return to our city during the Tricentennial was like a brother coming home."

Erika Prosper got video of the Latin Grammy winning artist.
