Man Saves Puppy From Imaginary House Fire

He was desperate to save the dog from a non-existent threat.

Upstate New York - Michael Orchard, a 43-year-old man of Halfmoon, NY was under the influence when he thought his neighbors house was on fire.

Orchard went to go pound on the door to alert them that their house was on fire but no one answered. Orchard was tripping on a mixture of LSD and cough syrup thinking his neighbors house was ablaze when it actually was not. His hallucinations caused him to think that the house was burning down with their family dog inside.

Orchard was desperate to get the dog out of the house. According to the police report, he took his BMW sedan and drove it through a fence and the yard before slamming it into the door. Orchard the grabbed the puppy thinking he was rescuing him.

When police arrived, they found Orchard holding the pup standing on his neighbor's front lawn.

Orchard was taken into custody at the Saratoga County Jail and had failed to post the $15,000 bail. Orchard was charged with third-degree criminal mischief and second-degree burglary. Authorities said that Orchard will not face any charges for possession of drugs since the police didn't find any on him. As for the front door, the State Police installed a new one for the homeowner.
