Live Action Aladdin Movie Planned

Guy Ritchie is signing on with Disney to direct a live-action remake of the 1992 Disney movie "Aladdin." Ritchie has a history of directing movies such as the 2009 film "Sherlock Holmes", the 2011 Sherlock Holmes sequel: "A Game of Shadows" and "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."

The original animated Disney film, Aladdin, featured the late Robin Williams who voiced the genie. The film had also won the Academy Award for "Best Original Music Score" for the featured song "A Whole New World." Aladdin has grossed $217 million in the United States and $504 million worldwide.

It looks like Disney is on a roll with remaking classic films including "Beauty and the Beast" "The Lion King" and The Little Mermaid."
