Masaya Nakamura who founded the video game company Namco and who was named "the father of pac-man" died at the age of 91 on January 21. Namco, which is now known as Bandai-Namco after a merger in 2005 had released a press release saying: "Nakamura was a key player in Bandai-Namco's global growth. His pet saying was that his company delivered varied and total entertainment. He took pride in having fun and games for his job."

Bandai-Namco stated that they will not comment on the cause or any personal details regarding how Nakamura passed away. A private funeral will be arranged but the company is planning a separate memorial.
Namco released Pac-Man video game in 1980 and known as one of the best selling games of all time.
