Salt-N-Peppa released this single on September 21, 1993 from their fourth studio album Very Necessary. The song was produced by Mark Sparks and member Salt from the group. Later in 1993, the song became a successful title reaching number four on the Billboard Hot 100 and also topped the Hot Rap Singles chart at the number one spot.

Two months after the release, the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) certified the single as gold status when the group hit 800,000 copies sold.
Today the song can be heard in pop culture and such films like the 2016 film Deadpool and on Lip Sync Battle when Alison Brie sang the hit.
The music video was filmed on location at Coney Island in Brooklyn and had cameo appearances by R. Kelly, Jodeci, Johnny Gill, A Tribe Called Quest, Blackstreet and Keith Sweat.
