San Antonio just entered the running to host the 2026 FIFA World Cup inside the Alamodome. San Antonio isn't the only Texas city that joined in on the bid. The Cotton Bowl and the AT&T Stadium in Dallas as well as the Reliant Stadium in Houston have also placed their bid.
San Antonio also is competing against three nations and forty-six cities in North America alone.
The short-list of contending cities will be announced in late September 2017 bringing the total down to about 25 possibilities. One of the requirements is that the future FIFA site requires a capacity of 80,000 people.
The official announcement will be made by FIFA at the World Cup on March 16, 2018.
