Manhattan is visited all year long by millions of people from almost every corner in the world. Most tourists don’t necessarily travel by themselves and are often accompanied by children. However, the intentions of seeing sky high buildings and beautiful shops are often overshadowed by topless women in Time Square.
NYC Mayor tries to ban topless women from Time Square

An article shared on CNN states how NYC’s Mayor Bill de Blasio considers that women who walk around leaving little to the imagination are not a good idea after all... These women may stumble upon a legal barrier!
Discover why!

A controversial change
New York's Time Square is full of magic, propaganda and many options when it comes to entertainment. Despite this, a new legion of women who appear to only be wearing a thong and excessive body paint seem to be causing quite a stir.
For months, the normal carnival-like scene in Times Square has included young women, many of them Latin American immigrants, who are clad only in body paint and thongs and pose for photos with passersby in exchange for tips…
If you’ve ever visited the magnificent city, then you must know that women are not the only ones attracting so much attention. In fact, there is a man wearing nothing more than tighty whities and from a distance, the only thing that appears to be covering him is the guitar he so proudly shows off.
But why is this topic so relevant for women? Continue reading to find out!

Opinions matter
There are people who believe that this law is an exaggeration, being that in the past Time Square was not exactly as safe as it is today. Governor Andrew Cuomo mentioned the following in an interview with NY1:
The "bad old Times Square" was a moral and public safety nightmare, where X-rated theaters were plentiful and a veritable army of hookers, dope dealers, con artists, pickpockets and muggers had full run of the streets well into the 1990s. Today's scene features much less scary street people. In addition to the painted ladies, Times Square on any given day has a group of characters in costumes, offering kids a chance to take a picture with Spiderman, Batman, Buzz Lightyear or Elmo -- once again, in exchange for a tip.
After taking this into perspective, a woman should always have the right to do whatever it is that she pleases. However, little girls who see this type of art could be influenced. Everything that is practiced with a sense of modesty ―especially in public places― could help change the negative stereotypes that have been implemented towards women.

A positive idea
Throughout many cities in the United States, women are often used as sex symbols in exchange for money. Being that Latina's, were the ones used as an example ―it is crucial to change this type of mindset. Many Hispanic women who migrate to the United States are often professionals in their native land. Others, simply have a dream ―yet, aren't aware of the magnificent options available when it comes to education.
Empowering and motivating these women who may not have another job offer could change their lives forever.
What’s your opinion; should a law against women who walk around topless be implemented?
