DIY: Stylish ways to decorate your home for Halloween!

Halloween is a time for pumpkins, ghosts and black cats, at least those are commonly used themes during the holiday. The spooky celebration is a lot of fun but sometimes it can get too gimmicky.

It’s understood that Halloween is characterized by orange and black and that cob webs are an easy alternative to any elaborate decoration idea.

The problem with those ideas is that they are a bit childish and can be borderline tacky.

If you want to adorn your home for the Halloween but still want it to be elegant and grownup, here are a few ideas you can try around your house.

5. Apothecary Jars filled with goodies

You probably have these nifty little jars in your bathroom or as decoration somewhere around the house. If you don’t you can easily take a glass candlestick holder and a glass candle holder and glue theme together with a ceramic craft glue.

Use this jar and fill it with black and white candies, or you can fill them with spooky little trinkets like in the picture above.

4. Wall design

Use black candelabras, feathers and branches to give an antique Halloween appropriate feel to your chimney, wall or window area.

3. Creative pumpkin decor

There are so many things you can do with pumpkins for Halloween season. One of my favorite ideas is to spray paint an entire pumpkin a solid color depending on the color scheme in your home.

Another creative idea is to glitter an entire pumpkin. You can do a solid color or mix it up.

2. Spray paint empty wine bottles or ceramics

You can finally make use out of those empty bottles of chardonnay and that tea set you found for two dollars at a yard sale.

Spray paint them black for a scary look and put them up at your dining table or around the house with candles.

1. Halloween wreaths

Yes you read that right, wreaths aren’t only for Christmas. Buy  a foam wreath at your local craft store and decorate it with black glitter and bows.

Be creative and stylish, on your wreath and place it on your door.
