Moments that marked the fate of Joaquin Guzman in the series 'El Chapo'
In 'El Chapo' Season 1, the series is based on the life of the powerful drug trafficker Joaquin Guzman, showing several events and decisions that marked his course of action. Let´s remember some of the most shocking moments of the series.
In 1985, the drug business was controlled by Miguel Angel, 'Boss of bosses'. By that time, Joaquin Guzman 'El Chapo' was not a lord, but a subordinate with a greatambition for power of Guadalajara Cartel.

His first goal was to become a lord, so he had a master plan to impress the 'Boss of Bosses', building a tunnel he would use to transport several tons of cocaine from Colombia to the United States.

' El Chapo' did not get the answer he wanted. And Miguel Angel made it clear that the boss in Colombia was Amado, the lord of Juarez. But Joaquin Guzman was not willing to step back so he introduced himself to Pablo Escobar, the leader of Medellin Cartel, and offered him to transport drug in record time.

The agreed time to transport the drug from Colombia to the United States was 48 hours. Finally, he made it and astonished the drug lords, climbing into the spheres of drug trafficking.

In the meantime, the conflicts with Avendaño brothers, leaders of Tijuana cartel began. Benjamin and Ramon Avendaño wounded ' El Chapo's' pride since they refused to do business with him because he was not a lord. Then he decided to transport drug through their territories without their permission.

When Miguel Angel the 'Boss of Bosses' and Amado were arrested in 1988, the division of the drug trafficking territories underwent several changes and ' El Chapo' achieved what he wanted, become lord of Tecate.

Together with Heriberto 'El Güero' Palma, ' El Chapo' would create an alliance that would be strengthened by the murder of Armando Lopez, 'El Rayo', 'El Chapo's' best friend, and who was murdered by Ramon Avendaño.

This crime unleashed 'El Chapo's' fury and with the help of Ismael, lord of Sinaloa territory, planned an ambush at a nightclub in Puerto Vallarta where Avendaño brothers would be murdered. However, the plan failed and Ramon Avendaño managed to escape, but his younger brother, 'El Lobito', was captured.

'El Chapo' spared 'El Lobito's' life, however, his thirst for revenge and ambition for power had become insatiable. He was ready to plot a new blow against his enemies and settle accounts once and for all.

El Chapo's plans were frustrated when his enemies plot the murder of Juan Jesus Posadas cardinal, ambush in which they also tried to get rid of him. However, 'El Chapo' was blamed for the cardinal's murder and became the most wanted capo.

'El Chapo' changed his identity shaving his mustache and changing his name to Jorge Ramos to get out of the country and be able to cross the border. Two million dollars opened the doors to freedom and the possibility of setting up his operations center in Guatemala.

'El Chapo' went to Guatemala with no problems at all. However, he didn’t suspect that Amado was following his steps and had alerted the Mexican authorities of an important cocaine delivery that he would be in charge of in El Salvador. He already had a foot in prison, but he didn’t even know it.

Lieutenant Rosado, head of the Guatemalan army, arranged a fake meeting to see him, where he was arrested without further ado. When he was surrounded, offered Rosado 1.5 million dollars in exchange for his freedom. The lieutenant accepted the bribe, but did not step back and reported his capture.

After his capture, 'El Chapo' was transferred to Almoloya prison, where he tried to negotiate his freedom with 'Don Sol' offering evidence on the Mexican president's brother and his ties with drug trafficking.

'El Chapo' and 'Don Sol', the new bond between the Mexican government and drug traffickers, reached to an agreement. 'El Chapo' would be transferred to a low-security facility in exchange for information involving the governor of Baja California, Ernesto Rubio (first candidate of the opposition party who won in 60years) with Benjamin and Ramon Avendaño.

In his early days as an inmate, 'El Chapo' experienced the harshness of lifebehind bars and his mother lived in the flesh the severity of a prison. He tried tobribe custodians by offering money, but the only thing he earned was a thrashingand be sent to 'Los Acolchonados' without food.

After some time, one of the custodians accepted the proposal and finally 'El Chapo' received a visit from his mother. But the truce didn’t last long due to the sleeping pills he shared with the inmates would finish his pact with the custodian, who ordered his transfer.

'El Chapo' paid a high price for challenging prison authorities and spent several months in 'Los Acolchonados', cell where inmates were tortured behind bars. Inorder to drive him to despair, the custodians used to place a siren at full blast a few steps from the door.

In a meeting with 'La Licenciada', the fear some deputy director of Almoloya, 'El Chapo' assured that he would not return to criminal life and regretted his behavior. Joaquin Guzman was taken to his old cell, where he began to devise his escape from the prison.

After meeting with his lawyer to organize the breakout, 'La Licenciada' showed him the recording of the conversation revealing his escape, so he returned to 'Los Acolchonados' immediately. Before that, she made it clear that no one escapes from Almoloya.

'El Chapo' returned to the torture of 'Los Acolchonados'. But as he put his feet inside the cell, began to sing 'El Rey'.
