In 1985, the drug business was controlled by Miguel Angel, 'Boss of bosses'. By that time, Joaquin Guzman 'El Chapo' was not a lord, but a subordinate with a greatambition for power of Guadalajara Cartel.

His first goal was to become a lord, so he had a master plan to impress the 'Boss of Bosses', building a tunnel he would use to transport several tons of cocaine from Colombia to the United States.

But Joaquin Guzman was not willing to step back so he introduced himself to Pablo Escobar, the leader of Medellin Cartel, and offered him to transport drug in record time.

'El Chapo' went to Guatemala with no problems at all. However, he didn’t suspect that Amado was following his steps and had alerted the Mexican authorities of an important cocaine delivery that he would be in charge of in El Salvador. He already had a foot in prison, but he didn’t even know it.

Lieutenant Rosado, head of the Guatemalan army, arranged a fake meeting to see him, where he was arrested without further ado. When he was surrounded, offered Rosado 1.5 million dollars in exchange for his freedom. The lieutenant accepted the bribe, but did not step back and reported his capture.

After his capture, 'El Chapo' was transferred to Almoloya prison, where he tried to negotiate his freedom with 'Don Sol' offering evidence on the Mexican president's brother and his ties with drug trafficking.

'El Chapo' would be transferred to a low-security facility in exchange for information involving the governor of Baja California, Ernesto Rubio (first candidate of the opposition party who won in 60years) with Benjamin and Ramon Avendaño.

In his early days as an inmate, 'El Chapo' experienced the harshness of lifebehind bars and his mother lived in the flesh the severity of a prison. He tried tobribe custodians by offering money, but the only thing he earned was a thrashingand be sent to 'Los Acolchonados' without food.

After some time, one of the custodians accepted the proposal and finally 'El Chapo' received a visit from his mother. But the truce didn’t last long due to the sleeping pills he shared with the inmates would finish his pact with the custodian, who ordered his transfer.

'El Chapo' paid a high price for challenging prison authorities and spent several months in 'Los Acolchonados', cell where inmates were tortured behind bars. Inorder to drive him to despair, the custodians used to place a siren at full blast a few steps from the door.

In a meeting with 'La Licenciada', the fear some deputy director of Almoloya, 'El Chapo' assured that he would not return to criminal life and regretted his behavior. Joaquin Guzman was taken to his old cell, where he began to devise his escape from the prison.
