Immigrants in more than 50 cities said 'We are here to stay' (PHOTOS)
Immigrant rights activists are asking Donald Trump not to criminalize them. Dozens of organizations have carried out protests and workshops to inform immigrants about their rights, and to be prepared in case of massive raids and deportations.
Houston, Texas. The immigrant community in this Texas city was activated during protests against the new government's immigration policies. "Now more than ever our friends and relatives who have DACA are in danger, I am here today to demonstrate my support for immigrant communities," said Dora Alvarado, a cleaning worker.

Fresno, California. "Taking away DACA would be detrimental to my academic development and future in this country," said Vanessa Quevedo, a Dreamer and activist for the rights of her community.

Houston, Texas. "I am standing here with DACA recipients because we can not allow Donald Trump to separate families. SEIU (Service Employees International Union) members of Texas will always fight for the rights of our immigrant brothers and sisters," said Maldonado, an activist for immigrant rights.

"I am here supporting our diverse community and young people with DACA because we will not allow our families and friends to suffer because of the president-elect," Aracely Caceres, a janitor and a member of the Service Employees International Union, told Univision. "The Houston community is strong and by joining us we will be stronger and we will resist any attack because Houston is our home and we are here to stay."

San Jose, California. Marches and briefings were held "to protect the rights of immigrants," said María Elena Jáuregui, of the We Are Here to Stay organization. "And also to protest against the criminalization, mass deportations, and the climate of hatred against immigrants."

Broward, Florida. One National Action Day demonstration was held in front of a Broward Immigration Detention Facility to demand an end to deportations.
