RECIPE: The perfect veggie burger for the 4th of July!

More and more Americans are choosing to incorporate healthy eating habits into their lives. The 4th of July, is a time to celebrate the nations independence which means lots of food everywhere! If you’re trying to keep those extra pounds away ―this recipe will not only be a healthy alternative, but a delicious one too!

Treat your family to tasty food on the 4th of July!

Ingredients 

  • 2 cans of lentils
  • 1 cup of walnuts
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ teaspoon of oregano
  • 12 garlic cloves
  • ½ cup of diced onions
  • ½ cups of wheat germ
  • ¾ cup of milk
  • Olive oil
  • Salt & pepper

Preparation

Start by draining and pureeing the lentils. On a flat surface, chop the walnuts so that they are easier to eat. Into a big bowl, add the lentils and walnuts as well the beaten eggs! As you mix all of the ingredients, incorporate the mashed garlic, onions, salt and pepper.

In order for the mixture to contain lots of healthy proteins add the wheat germ and milk. Follow by pouring just a bit of olive oil and once again, with a plastic spatula, mix all of the ingredients.

This  delicious veggie burger could be baked or cooked in the barbecue. Want to know a secret: they taste even better with lettuce, tomatoes and pickles!
