Don’t let the storm catch you unprepared! More than just a quote, it is very important to be cautious when there’s bad weather outside. Overtime, you’ll hear many myths and truths about people that are struck, but according to the National Weather Service “NOAA” in 2015 alone ―16 people have lost their lives after being hit by lightning.
Prevention is very important, see how you could protect yourself and loved ones during a thunderstorm.

5. Safe indoors
If you happen to be caught in the middle of the street, find a safe place to go into, like a gas station; never under a tree!
Safety first ladies!
4. Don't do your hair
Doing your hair while there is a storm going on is not a good idea after all. Blow dryers, flat irons and curling wands should be off limits!
3. Never clean dishes
I’m a neat freak, yet there are things that I would never do while there’s thunder. Most sink pipes have connections that start on the outside and end on the inside of the house. If lightning were to struck any of the pipes outside, the energy would travel and the rest is history.
2. Corded telephones
Unless it’s a real emergency, don’t make any phone calls. Sometimes everything could just wait! Realize that life is more important than a 2 minute conversation.
1. The doorbell
The little button that made it to #1 on our list! During a storm, knock on the door instead of using the doorbell. What happens is that the lightning's electricity could travel through the wires and eventually shock you!
Women, especially with children ―are always finding ways to prevent accidents from happening! Since a very young age, it is important to teach the little ones what are the things and situations that could be of most danger. Storms are nothing to play around with and although every culture has its beliefs about thunder safety, facts don’t lie.
At iMujer, we enjoy helping YOU and your family find ways to be and feel safe all the time!
