Undoubtedly one of the cruelest actions derived from the wars and conflicts throughout the history of mankind -those that have left the biggest wounds and scars that never close- is the forced separation of families by tearing children from the arms of their parents.

These kinds of acts left painful memories for everyone, and they remind us permanently that, fortunately, there were nations that offered the lives of millions of their own to fight and eradicate those practices forever.

A U.S. military invasion of Venezuela? Just Say No
John Feeley

Despite a near universal desire for an end to Venezuela’s manmade disaster, sending in U.S forces to take out the Maduro regime would be counter-productive. It should be categorically rejected by interim president Juan Guaidó, not to mention the Trump administration.

The firing of undocumented workers at Trump's golf clubs just shows how the practice of employing immigrants without legal work papers is much more common than we might imagine. Such is life in the United States.

Uncle Sam: Do Your Due Diligence
John Feeley

The time is well past due for the U.S. government to conduct a thorough review of leaders and their senior colleagues before they leave office to determine if they merit visas.

The United States is one of those countries that proudly built its identity on the defense of these types of rights and liberties. That's why it's incredible and unacceptable that today on our southern border U.S. security officers have separated almost 2,000 children from their parents in operations to combat illegal migration.

The fixation of the current administration to prevent the entry of undocumented people into the United States at any price, has resulted in the use of separation of children from their parents as a cruel warning to discourage migration. The United Nations, the Unions of Pediatricians and Child Psychologists, media organizations, human rights groups, spiritual and religious leaders and thousands of citizens (in the country and outside) find this type of procedure morally and legally unjustifiable.

UNIVISION News holds as a fundamental part of its mission the empowerment of Hispanic and multicultural communities; to help strengthen their ability to be seen and heard.

For that reason, we actively join those voices that demand the Trump administration and the Congress of the United States put an end to this ruthless practice that impacts people, families, communities and countries. Let’s put an end, once and for all, to the separation of families so that thousands of affected children can immediately be reunited with their parents.

Make your voice heard: Contact your Congressman about the forced separation of immigrant families

An important discussion awaits in Congress on immigration issues. But, the unjustifiable suffering of children should not be used as a bargaining chip to achieve goals in any political negotiation. No good law can be built on the misfortune of innocents. UNIVISION News therefore, is employing its communication platforms to generate awareness against this practice and so that you can make the government and your members of Congress aware of your rejection of the policy of separation of families, which must end NOW.
