  • Filming for the movie is set to begin "very, very soon," according to Queen's official website. A release date for the movie has yet to be confirmed.
  • The film's director is Bryan Singer, who has helmed four X-Men movies -- including the first two and the most recent pair -- as well as pictures like Valkyrie, Superman Returns and The Usual Suspects.
  • The real-life May and Taylor have said they're thrilled with the choice of Malek to play the late Mercury, who died of AIDS-related causes in 1991 at the age of 45. May said, "Rami has great presence and he’s utterly dedicated to the project. He’s completely living and breathing Freddie already, which is wonderful."
  • May and Taylor recently completed a North American tour in celebration of the 40th anniversary of Queen's classic 1977 album, News Of The World.
