Pro-wrestling couple 40-year-old John Felix Anthony Cena and 34-year-old Stephanie Nicole Garcia-Colace a.k.a Nikki Bella are calling quits to their relationship after six years.
Nikki Bella posted to her Instagram: "After much contemplation and 6 years of being together Nikki Bella and John Cena announced today their decision to separate as a couple. 'While this decision was a difficult one, we continue to have a great deal of love and respect for one another. We ask that you respect our privacy during this time in our lives."
John Cena posted a quote to his Instagram by Walt Whitman - "We were together. I forget the rest."
John Cena proposed to Nikki Bella on April 22, 2017 at Wrestlemania 33 in Orlando in front of 75,000 people. Things started to get a little rocky for the couple after admitting they went months without seeing one another due to their schedules. Cena admitted that he wouldn't want Nikki in a position where he had held her back but seemed optimistic that everything was in for the long haul.
Cena said: "When we do see each other, it's our time together. I think, for now at least, that is certainly what's making this work."
The couple were last spotted together in public in New Orleans for Wrestlemania 34 on April 8, 2018.
The couple have been dating since 2012.
According to US Weekly, Bella wanted kids but Cena didn't. Bella told the publication, "I'm not going to lie, there are times when I still pray that one day he'll change his mind. But as of now, no family."
During the relationship, the couple were supportive.
Bella had a performed a dance routine to Luis Fonsi's Despacito with Artem Chigvintsev on Dancing with the Stars back in September 2017.
Right after the performance, Cena had immediately texted Bella saying: "YOU KILLED IT." Bella said that "He's so proud of me and he knew how uncomfortable I was this week in doing all this. I mean, I made a mask of his face and put it on Artem so... I don't think they showed that."
Reports state that Nikki Bella is "heartbroken" over the split. She also says that "He never should have proposed."
The couple were supposed to get married on May 5, 2018 in Mexico.
