Monday, the United States Mint released a limited-edition quarter representing the San Antonio Missions. The historic piece of history will be shared and circulated in the U.S. part of the "America the Beautiful Quarters Program."
The quarter is number 49 in the series of released coins and represents Texas as each state has their own piece of history represented.
The historic San Antonio Missions were built in the early 1700's and an icon to San Antonio, Texas and a registered landmark in the U.S. historic database.
The U.S. Mint describes the missions as "toolmaking, carpentry, looming, spinning and masonry" that contributed to the area in time.
