Texarkana born Ross Perot has died early Tuesday after losing a five month battle with leukemia.
Ross was a Texas software pioneer in 1984 after General Motors purchased his company Electronic Data Systems for $2.5 billion. He began EDS company in 1962 with a $1,000 loan from his wife.
In 1988, Perot founded Perot Systems Corp in which Dell purchased in 2009 for $3.9 billion.
In 1992, Ross infamously ran as an Independent (I) for President of the United States of America against William Jefferson Clinton (D) and George H.W. Bush (R). Perot ran again in 1996 against Bob Dole and William Jefferson Clinton for his second term.
Ross is survived by his wife, Margot, his five children and 16 grandchildren.
