Legendary accordionist Celso Piña dies after suffering a heart attack

Mexican singer, composer, and accordionist Celso Piña has died due to a heart attack at the age of 66. He was pronounced dead at the San Vincente de Monterrey Hospital in Monterrey, NL, MX where he was admitted for the heart attack.

Piña was a pioneer for the fusion of tropical sounds with elements of cumbia, regional Mexican, cumbia sonidera, ska, reggae, rap, hip-hop, R&B and other music genres and had more than 20 albums under his belt in his career.

His label, La Tuna Group released a statement about Piña's passing.
