Yung Mazi: Shot and Killed

The rapper was shot multiple times outside of a restaurant in Atlanta

Rapper Yung Mazi was shot and killed on Sunday, August 6th.

Local authorities responded to a shooting around the intersection of Oakview Road and Hosea L. Williams Drive in the Kirkwood area of Atlanta at 8:55 PM. They found Mazi, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds, outside of a pizza restaurant called 'Urban Pie.' He was pronounced dead on the scene.

According to, police say the Mazi was the intended target. The unknown suspect is said to be a black male, with dreadlocks, wearing a white t-shirt.

Unfortunately, Mazi was no stranger to gunfire. The rapper shared that he had been shot at a total of twelve times. This last shooting was the second time he had been shot at in the last eight months. On December 27, 2016, he had been shot in the chest while eating at a waffle house. After surviving the last encounter, he released a music video about the experience.

Before his death, Mazi had been hard at work making a name for himself. He had already collaborated with some of hip hop's heavy hitters, including Future, Kevin Gates, Young Scooter and Yo Gotti.
