On Saturday, August 12, a group of white supremists, neo-nazis, Ku Klux Klan members and other hate groups rallied against plans to remove a Confederate statue in Charlottesville, Virginia.

With counter protesters also present to denounce the groups, things turned violent when 20 year old James Alex Fields Jr. drove his Dodge Challenger into a group of people who were demonstrating against the hate groups. Nineteen people were injured and a 32 year old protestor, Heather Heyer, was killed.

Since then, hip hop celebrities have taken to their social media channels to denounce the violence and advocate for change.

According to the Wall Street Journal, Fields has been charged with second-degree murder, three counts of malicious wounding and one count of hit and run.
