Early February of 2016, DMX was rushed to the emergency room after being found unconcious outside of a Yonkers hotel. Police had found him lifeless next to a parked car. Police gave the rapper CPR until they got a pulse.

Since then, DMX had fully recovered and is praising the cops who saved his life that night. He performed a free show at the Yonkers Police Department vs Fire Department "Toughman Competition" boxing event on October 21st.

Video obtained by TMZ shows DMX thanking those in attendance by saying "There's a few officers here tonight that, on February 8th, saved my life. To go from at one point running from the police to having police save my life. True heroes. I'm not speaking from what somebody else told me or someone else opinion, this is my personal experience."

About 2,000 were attending the "Toughman Competition" and listened to X perform his 1998 classic "Ruff Ryders."

DMX helped the event raise over $80,000 in return of them saving his life.
