I busted into the world in December 1954, as James Sheldon Gannon, born in Elmira, New York. To Patricia Anne and named after my father James Gannon, a world renowned jazz bassist. I was 3 when introduced to my first instrument. I learned how to play the drums, clarinet, alto sax, guitar, bass guitar and piano. My father taught me alot about music, all before I was sixteen. I played with numerous rock bands, and performed at clubs and outdoor concerts from 1973 – 1979.
In 1979, I joined the United States Coast Guard as an Operations Specialist and served on the Coast Guard Cutters Jarvis and Tamaroa from 1979 – 1983. I enlisted in the United States Army as a Chaplin Assistant from 1984- 1988 and lived in New York, Georgia, California, Arizona, Hawaii and South Korea.
In 1988, I moved to Santa Fe, NM and applied at local radio stations KVSF and KNYN where I was the afternoon and evening personality till 1990. I have enjoyed working with many radio stations in New Mexico; KNLA, KRBL, KBAC, KJOY, KMGA, KPEK, KSYU and now KIOT (Coyote 102.5) as the evening personality from 7p – midnight and enjoy being part of the Univision team.
I started a voice-over business in 2000 and have voiced numerous commercials all over the world. My passion for music and the entertainment business continues to evolve. I also love to spend time with family and friends. Two of my joys, spending time with my grandson, and the love of my life Karen.
