Volunteers collect aid for hurricane-ravaged Puerto Rico

The island was left without power since Maria made landfall on Wednesday. The airport has reopened and aid is beginning to flow. We visited one volunteer aid effort in Miami. Univision News has created a tool (IN SPANISH) whereby Puerto Ricans can write in the name of a municipality and get the latest information available about the situation there. Univision has also been helping families connect with loved ones who they have not heard from due to the lack of cellphone service. On Saturday celebrities staffed hotlines to raise money during a Univision telethon, Unidos Por Los Nuestros, for the victims of the natural disasters in Mexcio and Pueeto Rico.

Nicole Fiol, 36, spent the day volunteering with her baby, Daniella. Her family live in Hacienda Real, Carolina in northeast Puerto Rico. She hadn't anything from them until Friday night. Impressed by the show of solidarity, she said: "In the midst of adversity we have witnessed how we can all come together as one family and help eachother get back up."
