In case you haven’t noticed, it’s football season again. Of course, you’ve noticed. Your husband has begun to disappear on Sunday and he’s even managed to dig out that horrible old jersey you thought was well hidden at the back of the closet. I’ve never been a football fan but it occurred to me this year that if you can’t beat ’em, join ’em; and that’s just what I think we should do. You can’t expect to fall in love with the game overnight so use these motivations to make watching football more fun this season.

Snacks

Food makes everything better, right? It’s not an ideal attitude, or so my Weight Watchers rep tells me, but it does make sitting through four quarters of a football game you don’t understand, a little easier. Get the recipe here.

Crafts

Let’s combine something you love to do with something he loves. Try a football inspired craft to make game day less of a drag. This centerpiece is perfect for the table. You can organize all kinds of yummy food around it. (I guess I am a bit preoccupied with food) Get details here.

Friends

Use the game as an excuse to get together. Sure, some of the die hard fans won’t leave the couch but game day can be some great social time. You and your friends can commit to learning the game of football together, over a glass of wine and some snacks (of course).

Friendly Wagers

No, money isn’t the prize. Let’s make it a little more interesting. If my team wins, you make me lunch for a week. If your team wins, I’ll bring you breakfast in bed. (Even my wagers are food related). You see, this will get you seriously motivated to watch the game and root for your team.

Post Game Promise

Not that kind of promise. Get your mind out of the gutter. If you’re willing to watch and entire football game with him, than he should be able to commit to at least three episodes of Scandal. Doesn’t that sound fair?
