Split the Chores And Make A Schedule

This is a very important survival tip for couples in this modern day. Make sure you have the chores all sorted before you bring baby home. The first week may feel like utter mayhem, so having everything written down on the bulletin board or fridge will help you out.

If you have a partner in this new journey make sure you both have specific chores that you are responsible for. One of you can do the laundry and take out the garbage, while the other can grocery shop and make dinner. If you are minus a partner, then you must prioritize your chore list and place high priority chores at the top.

Alternate Night Duty

The newborn bedtime routine is one of the most important issues to have planned out before baby arrives. If you are bottle feeding your baby, you and your partner can do alternate nights of feeding and save yourselves from moody moments, irritability and pointless arguments.

If you are a single parent, you can ask for extra help from family or friends for the first week or two. Many new grandparents, aunts, uncles and close friends would love to help out, so do not be afraid to ask for help the first little while as you are getting used to being a parent.

Take Time For Yourselves

You must take time for yourselves and take care of your emotional, mental and physical health. When the baby poop hits the fan (hopefully not literally) and the crying seems like it will never end, stop and take a few minutes for yourself. This could even be your shower time or ask your partner to take over while you take a short walk.

Take Naps Wherever and Whenever

A newborn bedtime routine will drive you bonkers. It is best to know ahead of time that you must be prepared to take naps whenever you can. If you can nap when your newborn naps you will have a better chance of surviving the first few months.

Nourish Yourself, But Make It Handy

Prepare meals before you have your little one and store them in the freezer. This will be the difference between losing your sanity and holding it together on nights where you do not have an ounce of energy left in your body.

Give yourself a moment to breathe, pat yourself on the back for being a good parent and remember, a healthy parent equals a healthy child and lifestyle balance is everything.
