I must confess…I have two obsessions: cooking and Pinterest. Combine those two with the holiday season, and I’m a crazy Pinterest baker! I searched all of Pinterest for unique and delicious-looking holiday desserts. During the holidays, I try to find recipes that are equally as appealing to the eye and the palate.

1. Melting Snowman Cookies

I pinned the recipe to these Melting Snowman Cookies about a year ago. How cute are these cookies from Family, Food, and Fun? This looks like a recipe that kids would love to help make. Each child can give a snowman its own personality.

  2. Santa Cake Pops

I’ve always wanted to make cake pops, but they seemed so challenging. Janine from sugarkissed.net provides simple step-by-step instructions to make these Santa Christmas Cake Pops. While the decorating takes a little time, I honestly never knew cake pops were so easy to make!

3. Hot Cocoa Three Ways

Next up, how about a warm, delicious holiday drink…or three? I absolutely love hot cocoa, especially around Christmas time. Huppie Mama shares recipes for Hot Cocoa Three Ways: Dark Chocolate Espresso Hot Cocoa, Milk Chocolate Spiced Hot Cocoa, and White Chocolate Peppermint Hot Cocoa. All three would be delicious with one of my other chocolate-y favorites, s’mores.

4. Red Velvet Shortbread Cookies

This recipe combines two of my favorites: red velvet and shortbread. These Red Velvet Shortbread Cookies from Recipe Girl are dipped in white chocolate and finished with festive sprinkles. Not only would these be great for a cookie exchange, they would make a lovely gift when presented in a holiday tin.

5. Chocolate Peppermint Cheesecake Cake

No holiday dinner is complete without some kind of scrumptious cake, my favorite being cheesecake. I came across this recipe for Chocolate Peppermint Cheesecake Cake from Shugary Sweets and seriously started salivating. This cake is made of one layer of peppermint cheesecake sandwiched between two layers of decadent chocolate cake.

These divine holiday desserts should have you running to the grocery store and baking all night long for your friends and family… or maybe just yourself! No one says you have to share, right?

What are your favorite out-of-the-ordinary holiday desserts?
